During my work on Shopify's Point of Sale and Polaris design systems for retail, I identified a critical gap in our product's competitiveness: a lack of visual polish and essential components. Specifically, there was no clear interaction model to distinguish tappable elements from non-tappable ones, and a general absence of containment strategies. To address this, I spearheaded the development of a more refined visual language and introduced standardized interactive components. This initiative significantly enhanced user experience and made the product more robust and competitive in the market.
