Tell me about a goal or mission that you did not think was achievable. How did you help your team achieve this goal?

During my time at Amazon, my team was tasked with a project that, midway through, seemed to be heading towards failure due to unforeseen technical challenges and shifting priorities. Recognizing the potential negative outcome, I initiated a rapid team sync to openly discuss the specific hurdles and the reasons behind our concerns. We then meticulously gathered all available data, identifying and documenting each pain point. These challenges were systematically broken down into smaller, more manageable components. Following this, we conducted a thorough review and retrospective of our ongoing approach, analyzing why we had veered off course. This structured process allowed us to re-evaluate our strategy, identify critical areas for improvement, and ultimately realign our efforts to achieve the once-unachievable goal.
