Explain a time when your design was challenged in a code review.

Use a specific STAR-style story, but keep the technical decision central. For example: while designing an asynchronous import flow, a reviewer challenged a retry design because retries could create duplicate records. Instead of defending the original proposal, explain that you asked for a concrete failure sequence, wrote it down, and verified that the concern was valid when a timeout happened after the server committed. You then changed the design to use an idempotency key, a unique database constraint, and observable retry status. Mention the tradeoff: a little more schema and operational complexity in exchange for safe recovery. Close with a result such as fewer support incidents or a review checklist addition. Avoid inventing conflict or saying you simply accepted feedback; show how evidence changed, or confirmed, the design. There is no algorithmic Big-O here; communicate operational cost, latency, and failure behavior precisely.
