For deviation detection, a Variational Autoencoder (VAE) is a suitable choice. The VAE's encoder would learn a compressed latent representation of each trajectory segment's spatial and temporal features (x, y, z, timestamp). The decoder would then attempt to reconstruct the original trajectory segment from this latent representation. Segments that the VAE struggles to reconstruct accurately (i.e., have a high reconstruction error) are likely to be anomalous or deviating from typical courses.
