When would you use composition over inheritance? How does garbage collection work in Java? What’s the difference between Stack and Heap? When would you use an ArrayList vs. LinkedList? How does Java’s HashMap work internally? What happens during a resize? How do you handle collisions? then after the core concepts, the interviewer said to design a notification system where users can subscribe to different events and receive alerts. I used Observer pattern Subject (Event Source), Observer (Subscriber), Concrete Observers (Email, SMS, Push) Then sketch a class diagram, write pseudocode for registration, notification, and unsubscription, and discuss thread safety The interviewer asks How do you handle failures? How do you ensure order of notifications?
