Round by round

  1. 1

    Screening (Elimination round)60 min

    The interviewer gave me a hard problem find the next closest palindrome. It looked simple at first, but after some discussion, I realized it had many tricky cases. With a few hints, I broke the problem down and wrote a working solution within an hour. Although some test cases passed.

    DSA75 min

    I was given the Paint House (DP) problem. Luckily, I had solved something similar before, so I quickly got the base solution done. The real challenge came with the follow-ups, the interviewer added constraints and asked me to optimize further. Thankfully, my solution worked well, and the interviewer seemed genuinely happy with it.

    Low-Level Design45 min

    I was asked to design an Order Booking System like Zomato.It tested my understanding of:

    • Object-Oriented Design
    • Class Structure
    • Inter-Class Relationships My Approach: I aimed for a modular, scalable solution and tried to cover edge cases. Challenge Faced: Spent too much time adding production-level code and unnecessary details

    High-Level Design75 min

    This was the toughest round for me, but it went well. The interviewer, a Staff Engineer at Uber (8 to 10 years experience), asked me to design an Order and Account Management System to handle financial events and orders at scale. The focus was on scaling, consistency, availability, failure handling, and idempotency.

    HM Round (Project Strategy and Leadership Assessment)90 min

    This was the final round of the interview process. It started with my introduction, then discussion around my current project, role, and responsibilities. The Hiring Manager focused on understanding my approach to collaboration, problem-solving, leadership, and technical ownership. I shared the High-Level Design (HLD) of a major project from my previous company, explained key design decisions and handled all follow-up questions confidently. We wrapped up with a discussion about the team structure, ongoing projects, and expectations for the role. Overall, it was an engaging and positive conversation.
