How to prepare

  • Practice optimizing your DSA solutions. While brute force is acceptable, interviewers nowadays expect more focus on optimization.

Recently interviewed with ServiceNow for Software Engineer IC2 position. I applied through referral, a single-day drive, consisting of 3 rounds back-to-back, each 1 hour. And I’m happy to share that I received an offer after the process.

Round by round

    Technical Round 160 min

    Question 1 Array manipulation problem, kind of Bulb Switcher II Question 2 Dynamic programming question, which was significantly more challenging. I spent the majority of my time solving it, breaking down the problem into subproblems and optimizing it step by step. Some design patterns was also asked, like builder pattern & factory pattern, and how they are implemented with examples. I gave a detailed explanation with examples from real-world scenarios. And questions about inner workings of HashMap and different operations (put, get, remove), sorting related like mergesort, quicksort.

    Technical Round 260 min

    System Design Discussion The interviewer gave me an option to either discuss a system I designed in one of my previous projects or dive into an arbitrary system design question. Since I had a project I knew inside and out, I chose to discuss it.As i spent around 40 minutes discussing the system, and the interviewer seemed satisfied with my approach And after this some time left, gave me a DSA problem

    Resume-based round with a focus on past work experience and some behavioral question
