How to prepare
- Make sure you're comfortable explaining virtual memory, thrashing, defragmentation, and other memory management topics. Brush up on OS theory.
- Practice object-oriented design patterns like Singleton, Factory, and Observer. Learn how to discuss scalability, maintainability, and the trade-offs involved in system design.

Technical Problem Solving60 min
The interview started with a brief introduction, and then the interviewer moved straight into problem-solving. The first problem was finding the maximum element in a binary tree, followed by another challenging problem Binary Tree Maximum Path Sum. Both were standard questions and felt manageable. After solving them, the interviewer asked a third question related to Asteroid Collision.
- Binary Tree Maximum Path Sum - used DFS traversal to find the maximum sum and explained the logic clearly.
- Asteroid Collision - used a stack to simulate the collision process, which worked perfectly.

Technical Core Concepts60 min
This round was conducted by a senior engineer, and it started with a series of Operating System questions. We discussed topics like defragmentation, thrashing, and virtual memory. Then we moved to C++-specific concepts like the auto storage class and virtual functions. OS Concepts
-
Explained virtual memory and thrashing with examples, showing my understanding of memory management in operating systems. C++ Concepts
-
Discussed virtual functions and auto storage classes. I provided examples of dynamic polymorphism using virtual functions and explained static vs. dynamic binding.

Hiring Manager Round60 min
Began with the Hiring Manager asking about my previous rounds, followed by a deep dive into my resume. I was asked to explain the projects I worked on, particularly how I optimized code for runtime improvements. Project Discussion- I talked about my previous work where I optimized runtime performance through code changes. For behavioral, use the STAR method to clearly structure your responses.
