Their background
Hey everyone, Recently went through the JPMorgan Chase SDE-3 interview process, so I thought to share my experience, applied through their careers portal.
Round by round
- 1
OA60 min
The OA was on hacker earth and had two problems, one linked list based and one dynamic programming, I solved both.

CodePair Round60 min
The first round was DSA-focused. They started by giving me a Pull Request to review. I shared my thoughts on things like avoiding hardcoded values, hashing passwords, and following proper design patterns. Then I was given a medium-level array problem involving sorting, filtering, and searching. After solving it, I rewrote the solution using Java Streams. Everything was done on a HackerRank CodePair link, which made it feel like a live coding session.

High Level Design60 min
Design a scalable loan processing system for a bank. Handle loan applications, approval workflows, disbursals, repayment schedules, and user notifications. I started with functional requirements apply for loan, status tracking, approvals, disbursals, repayments, notifications. Non-functional- Scalability, consistency, fault tolerance, low latency. High-level architecture- API gateway, application service, underwriting engine, payment service, notification service. Database schema- Users, applications, loan products, repayments, audits. Scalability- Shard by customer region, use caching for hot loan products, use async processing for notifications. Fault tolerance- Retries, dead-letter queues, reconciliation jobs for failed transactions.
