Round by round

1. 1

   Problem Solving60 min

   Each round was an elimination round. This was a DSA-focused round that tested both problem-solving depth and how you think under time pressure. The first question was a medium-level linked list problem, which I was able to solve fully and provide a working solution. The second was a harder tree-based question involving LCA (Lowest Common Ancestor). I couldn’t complete the code within the time limit, but I made sure to walk through the optimal approach and discuss key edge cases.

   Machine Coding60 min

   I was asked to build a Splitwise-like expense sharing system in 90 minutes. I started by creating the necessary DTOs and core domain classes, then implemented key APIs like expense creation and balance checking. I followed a clear MVC-style separation to keep the architecture clean and modular. Throughout the round, I made sure to keep the interviewer in the loop, explaining my approach, assumptions, and structure as I went along, and that really helped.

3. 3

   High-Level System Design60 min

   I walked through the architecture of a project from my resume using an online white boarding tool like draw.io. We covered all the key parts core components, APIs, database schema, caching, message queues, failover strategies, and monitoring. The interviewer seemed satisfied with the level of detail and depth throughout the discussion.
