Final year student Recently, I had the opportunity to interview with Goldman Sachs as part of their campus recruitment process.

Round by round

    OA (Elimination)60 min

    The first round was a one-hour online test that included:

    • Multiple-choice questions
    • 2 coding questions
    • 1 situation-based question Topics was DSA (arrays, strings, graphs), OOPs (inheritance, polymorphism, abstract classes)

    Technical Coding Round 160 min

    Two coding problems, 60 minutes, explain approach, write pseudocode, dry-run with test cases. Problems, one was Check if Grid Satisfies Conditions, and the other was Minimize Maximum Value in a Grid.The interviewer was engaged, asked about my thought process, and probed for optimization The interviewer was engaged, asked about my thought process, and probed for optimization

    Technical Coding Round 360 min

    This round threw me for a loop. Everyone else I talked to got DSA style questions. But mine? A complete curveball, the interviewer dove straight into my resume and started grilling me on everything from standard libraries to networking, Docker, CI/CD, and even system design. It felt more like I was interviewing for a backend engineer role than an intern. I was definitely not expecting that kind of deep dive, and it left me a bit rattled. Looking back, yeah, it did feel kinda unfair compared to the others. But hey, it’s their process.
