I recently interviewed for the Junior Software Engineer role at Apple, applied in July, and a few days later, I received the online assessment (OA) link. The OA had two problems in Java/Python. The first problem was about Minimum Height Trees, given a tree with n nodes and n-1 edges, and I had to find all root nodes that would result in minimum height trees. The second problem was a variation of the Frog Jump problem, where a frog had to cross a river by landing on stones, and each jump could be k-1, k, or k+1 units. I managed to solve both successfully, which got me my first interview scheduled.

In the first technical round, I was asked a graph problem to find the shortest path visiting all nodes exactly once, which was a variation of the Traveling Salesman Problem. The second question was an array sliding window problem, where I had to maximize a subarray sum of size k by optionally replacing one element. I explained my approach, optimizations, and complexities, and I was able to solve both questions within the time limit.
