How it went

Get good at DSA, but don’t stop there It is not just about solving problems, you should be able to explain how you got to the solution, what edge cases you thought about, and why you chose that approach over others. It helps you understand things better. Really know what’s on your resume If it is on there, be ready to talk about it. Whether it’s a project, an internship, or a tool you used, be honest about what went well, what didn’t, and what you learned along the way.

How to prepare

Despite strong performances in both rounds, especially on DSA and project discussions, I received a rejection after Round 2

Their background

I’m a final-year engineering student When ACKO visited my campus, from around 100 eligible students, only 20 were chosen for the first interview round, i was one of the lucky few.

Round by round

  1. 1

    Coding Round60 min

The round started with brief introduction from the interviewer, who was really friendly. Afterward, he asked me to introduce myself and talk about my summer internship and the projects I worked on. Follow-up questions based on my resume were asked

    • Why did you choose this specific tech stack for your project?

    • What are some alternatives to it?

    • If you had to make another version of your project, what changes would you make? After this, the interviewer jumped into problem-solving:

    • Question 1: 3 Sum

    • Question 2: You are given an array storing information about each car. The array looks like arr[i] = [ai, bi, ci]. The truck starts at a specific point (at, bt) and needs to travel the minimum distance to bring all the cars back to the garage. How would you calculate the minimum distance? The interviewer asked me behavioral questions,

    • Why did you choose this project for your internship?

    • How did you manage your time and work during the internship? At the end of the interview, I was asked if I had any questions. I inquired about the team dynamics at ACKO and the technology stack they use.

  2. 2

    DSA60 min

Again, we began with personal introductions. Given a circular array of houses, and you can’t rob adjacent houses, find the maximum you can steal. (Equivalent to House Robber II) I explained the DP approach, breaking it into two subproblems.
