Risks to know

Zscaler cut 3% of staff (~177 employees) in March 2023. More acutely, on May 27, 2026 the stock fell over 30% — a record one-day decline — after a Q4 guidance miss, even though the quarter itself was called "strong." That plunge is the canonical warning about RSU volatility here: your paper comp can swing sharply on a single guidance print.

Who thrives at Zscaler (and who should not)

Thrives: engineers who want to ship core cloud security at massive scale, PM-friendly folks comfortable with a sales-engineering-heavy model, and Bay Area candidates fine with roughly three days a week on-site. Should not join: candidates who fear RSU volatility — the 30%+ single-day drop is real — and those put off by the 3.4/5 rating and "hire and fire" reputation. It rewards scale-security depth over schedule flexibility.
