Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

As a member of BCG’s Content Studio, the Editorial Senior Manager—Practice Areas (PAs) will help execute the content programs of a portfolio of practice areas, ensuring the development and publication of market-leading, brand-defining thought leadership and commercially oriented content on topics that are top of mind for business leaders and the media.

In partnership with an Editorial Director, who oversees content pipeline strategy (and to whom the Editorial Senior Manager reports), the Editorial Senior Manager will play a hands-on role with content projects: assessing content submissions from PAs, setting projects up for successful editorial collaborations, managing publication timelines, troubleshooting, collaborating with writers and editors, and serving as editor on high-priority projects.

Strong editorial skills across written, visual, and multimedia formats are fundamental. The Editorial Senior Manager will provide input on outlines and drafts with the goal of upholding BCG’s quality standards while ensuring efficient writing and editing processes. Strong skills related to the use of AI in content development are also essential. The Editorial Senior Manager will use AI in all aspects of content work and will contribute to the Content Studio’s continued innovation in this field.

Communication and teaming skills are critical. The Editorial Senior Manager will build relationships within the Content Studio, across PA marketing teams, in the wider Marketing & Communications function, with our freelance writing and editing pool, and among senior stakeholders of the firm, becoming a go-to person for content development and execution guidance. This role demands creative problem solving, strategic thinking, outstanding communication skills, superb editorial judgment, and a data-driven mindset.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Actively shaping written and spoken material into sharp, compelling, and engaging content.
  • Applying sound editorial judgment to improve content quality—and being a strong and assertive advocate for better, stronger storytelling.
  • Assessing outlines and drafts and establishing an efficient plan for writers and editors to turn them into publishable products.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to meet deadlines and interim milestones.
  • Using AI in innovative ways in all aspects of content development.
  • Creative problem solving, patience, and taking initiative to move work forward.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders across functions and at all levels.
  • Communicating clearly, respectfully, and effectively, with a focus on informing and influencing decisions that affect content strategy, development, and execution.
  • Deriving insight from content performance data that can inform future projects.
  • Prioritizing projects and assisting colleagues as needed on firmwide initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as an editor or in another editorial role, preferably in a global professional services firm.
  • Integrated marketing experience, with a focus on thought leadership campaigns.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with demonstrated high academic achievement.

Who You'll Work With

  • An Editorial Director (your line manager)
  • Practice area marketers
  • Content Studio colleagues and leadership
  • BCG thought leaders
  • Colleagues throughout the Marketing & Communications function (content operations specialists, data visualization experts, the Web team, and more)
  • BCG’s freelance writers and editors
