About the Team

At Nutanix, you will join a geo-dispersed, highly collaborative team of engineering professionals dedicated to simplifying multi-cloud infrastructure and enterprise software management. Our team thrives on innovation, technical excellence, and mutual support to solve complex engineering problems.

You will report to a Technical Director who is committed to supporting your career development and technical growth. The work setup is hybrid, requiring you to be in our Vancouver office three days a week for in-person collaboration. There are very mild travel requirements for this position.

Your Role

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, resilient backend services and software components.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code adhering to enterprise software engineering standards.
• Develop automated unit and integration test suites to maintain high software quality, security, and reliability.
• Participate in architectural reviews, design discussions, and peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex bugs and performance bottlenecks across multi-tiered distributed systems.
• Partner with cross-functional teams—including Product Management, QA, and DevOps—to deliver end-to-end features on schedule.

What You Will Bring

• Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional software development experience building backend platform systems or cloud applications.
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python, Golang, Java, or C++.
• Core Systems Knowledge: Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and OS concepts.
• Infrastructure & Tooling: Practical experience with Linux systems, RESTful API design, microservice architectures, and Git-based workflows.
• Cloud & Containers (Plus): Exposure to container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, or public/private cloud environments.
• Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive ownership, and a desire to learn and collaborate.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between CAD $ 103,000 and CAD $ 155,000 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
